hmmm, I've been doing HPDE with PDA/NASA with my BDR and I have the opposite problem. Stock 302 in my BDR so I have to wave the the vettes and vipers around on the straights but I'm up their ass in the corners and entering a corner with them behind me I gain a bunch of lengths on them. SCCA, you're correct, requires much more safety equip. I've been debating putting the torch to the Cobra and building a full cage, or selling it. 1/2 of the 2500 miles on my car has been at open track events. I prefer that to driving it around town. I'd really like to get more formal schooling and do time trials (no wheel to wheel in that death trap), but can't without the cage.
