For a BB a 1962 or 1963 is a great engine as they had no emission equipment and the 1964 427s had none.

The 1965 small blocks also didn't have any smog equipment on them. Beginning in 1966 nearly all small blocks of any mfg's had to have exhaust air injection pumps installed.
