Default bung hole and FE parts question

I have a picture of an original steel pan FE 428 oil pan with a bung hole in the rear center on the bottom of the pan. Accordingly to the ERA manual the bung hole should be on the left. Is this because of the frame? Has anyone been successful putting the bung hole in the rear of the pan?

According to my research the FE's came with Autolite starters and alternators. Can you still get these? What amperage? If not, what have other people used?

My goal is to make this as close to the original look, feel and parts as I can.
