Cobra Make, Engine: Owned CSX 3121 1969-1975. Went to the dark side and bought a 'Vette. May yet repent and be saved.

You guys continue to miss the point. Let's rewind to 1962 when Road and Track et al tested the first 260 Cobra: the headline wasn't about loud pipes or fancy bodywork. It was about 0-60 in 4.2 seconds and a quarter mile in the low 12s (yes, I know the car was a ringer but Carroll was a sly one even then), and it was about good brakes and handling.

Remember that only around 6% of the original Cobras had those showy side pipes.

The Cobra legend was based on performance, not crowd appeal.
