I just went through this drill and really took the long way around the barn. I bought the Earls 502 planning to mount it on the block. NG, too many things in the way so I wound up buying a Canton billet remote filter mount and a Canton billet filter relocater. Works great but here's a tip. If you elect to go with the sandwich thermostat you must use a large remote mount like the Canton billet piece that covers both O-rings on the sandwich or it will leak. Don't ask me how I know.
