Default Tenneco & Thrush Mufflers

From Hemmings eWeekly Newsletter:

"Tenneco returns Thrush mufflers to the market:

Remember that pink-and-yellow bird decal that used to be on nearly every muscle car and hot rod on the street back in the ’70s and ’80s?

It’s back, along with the mufflers that made it a speed-shop favorite. Tenneco, which holds such other automotive performance brands as Dynomax and Cyclone headers, has resurrected the name to launch a new line of performance exhaust products aimed primarily at the classic muscle car market. The classic Thrush Turbo Muffler is the centerpiece of the new line; it’s a fully aluminized oval muffler with a reversible flow path.

Also in the lineup is the Thrush Welded Muffler, taking a more contemporary approach to performance exhaust. It’s also fully aluminized, but uses sound deflectors rather than traditional packing material to dampen noise without killing engine output. Old-school glass-pack mufflers are also part of the Thrush line. But the big news is the new series of complete exhaust systems designed for specific applications. Most kits use smooth-bent 2.5-inch pipe with H-pipe balance tubes and Thrush Turbo mufflers. Kits are currently available for ’64-’72 Chevelle and other A-body GM cars, ’67-’73 Camaro and Firebird, and ’68-’74 Nova. All kits are designed to be used with tubular headers."
