Why is a great question, I would prefer raw and rough or original gold. The magnesium wheels, 1960 cars, came with a gold colored chromate type finish and the lip polished. The finish was a yellow gold and rough in texture. I think many painted them black right out of the gate?
Mag wheels are also not shiny like aluminum. Magnesium will oxidize rapidly when exposed to air and give a dull matte finish.

Compliments of Ron, The Cobra master, gallery. These have oxidized since SAAC when Jack polished them. They have a bit of patina at this point and a duller finish at this time.
I think PSE does it rough if requested that way?
