Hey Rick. Thanks for your reply. As far as I can tell the motor is a drag pac motor. It has the cap screw rods, right crank, and the larger harmonic bal. w/counter weight. The number stamped (not casting number) on the back of the block is a little strange to me. It starts 9F153...etc. I think this is different than most blocks I have seen. I have had the motor since '79 or '80. I have no idea what happened to the car. My friend that sold me this motor has a drag pac car but this motor doesn't match his car.
As to the cost of building it...I have one pro builder that says he can build it for $2500 to $3000, not including parts. I priced another $4000 in parts to build the motor (not running), including aluminum heads.
I have looked at the create motors (385 series) from Ford and they can be had for a little more money. Somehow the FE just seems right for the car.
