Some of the college expense is covered under his mother, it's the flying part (seat time especially) that really wracks up the expenses.
Looking at the trend down the road in the next 4 to 5 years projections indicate a need for pilots at that time. A lot of pilots are retiring in that time frame and not many young people are entering the field. Airlines used to rely on the military, but for some reason, there not so keen on military pilots these days. Not sure whats up with that. In fact my son is easily the youngest in his class and about the only one who plans to do the entire four year program (wouldn't surprise me if he continues on to graduate school like his mother did).
