Phrases and words take on their own meaning over time, and the meanings often continually adapt and change. Where ever 'slab side' may have originated, it's common use today is an accepeted expression denoting the early Cobras. Maybe someone 'had a dream' and thats where it started.

I have read the phrase applied here to all leaf spring street cars, not just early cars as in worm & sector or 260ci cars or pre CSX2200 generator cars.

As far as an accepted expression, perhaps on this site but not among owners of original cars.
