My company just recently served general notice, on their log-in computer system, that I will be receiving, via snail mail, a
Form I-9 to fill out.

Immigration Reform and Control Act was passed in 1986. I either don't remember it or it has been so long I've forgotten about it. It seems like it is directed at illegal immigration and hiring thereof.
