Never had a problem on mine. It's a little tight when you drop it down (it will hit the frame), but then again so will the FL1A. And the built-in nut that they put on the bottom of the K&N is almost worthless except for the fact that the holes allow for safety wire. You could also put a large band clamp around the filter (snug tight) and safety wire that, too.
FWIW, I have not noticed a difference in
oil pressure between the FL1A and K&N units. And I change my
oil frequent enough that general filter quality is not a concern (although pay heed to what was said before about the Frams...junk).
