Default I really should have gotten a ticket today...

Dodged a bullet, no doubt.

Got on it hard coming up a hill. Then at the next stop sign, got on it hard again thru 1st and half of 2nd... ...came over the crest of that hill right after the stop sign and there were two patrol cars on the opposite side of the divider with their lights on and giving someone a ticket.

My immediate thoughts were "Dust....you are DUST! They heard you thundering up the hill...they heard you 200 yards away after the stop sign...this is not a good situation AT ALL, Dean!" I just lifted and kept looking forward like they were'nt even there. Then I purposely wound up 1st gear (slowly I might add) at the next stop sign just so the sound wasn't much different than what they heard when I was coming toward them previously. I figured maybe I get out of this one for just having a loud exhaust?!?

It must have worked. I was expecting the second patrol car to high tail it towards me but I got a few hundred yards further down the street and didn't see anything in my rear view mirror. I was less than 1/4 mile from my turn into my neighborhood at that point, so I immediately picked up the pace, drove swiftly into my neighborhood, drove up on the ramps and had the garage door closed before I had the ignition key turned off!

The look on my neighbors' faces was priceless as I came thundering around the corner, up my driveway, up the ramps and closed the door as if all one, big motion.

I guess what was in my favor was it was all sound, no visual and they weren't inside their squad cars. Otherwise, instant-on radar may have tagged me at one point. The only other "save" may have been that one of those two officers was the same "car guy" that pulled me over about a year ago? Since he knows me and the car, perhaps he was just enjoying the sweet sound of the sidepipes?

Dang...I was just plain lucky; no other way to describe it. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, I guess.
