You are in AC right? Give it an amp per thou. If you're welding .090" use 90 amps. Here's the deal, you have to get right in there and after it. Heat both pieces to be joined until they are starting to melt and dip the rod between them to drop a blob of ally in there. It is a bit of a head trip just getting going with the magnesium trying to burn and all. If you just kind of commit to blazing those pieces together you'll get it.
