Sal,

Backdraft use to use a slip fit, we did several things to get them to stop leaking.

One, we would make 2 cuts a 3/4 inch length ways down the slip over. opposite sides of each other. Our case it was the stainless steel sidepipes. Then take a band clamp not a wormgear. Tighten down over the cuts. This seemed to be the best thing we could come up with.

Then the heavens opened up over in South Africa and they started putting flanges on them. We have flanges if you would like to weld them on and seal them up pretty good.
