I could be wrong, but I think you are missing a spacer that takes up the thickness of the bracket/plate. It goes on between the retainer and the bearing. Mine was not put on first and I had to split it in two. Made it extremely difficult to assemble. Mike
Your retainer is different than mine, this may be part of your retainer
