That is sad and it was the same when my Mother passed away. The little Pom we had grieved for weeks and I had to go to the vet to get some kind of a high protein jell that I could stick in her mouth as she wouldn't eat at all. After a week of that she started taking a bite or two and then gradually started eating. Then when she passed away, the one I had to keep her company spent two months going out and laying on top of her grave. I would have to go carry Sherry inside as she would lay out in the 118 degree sun until she was so hot it would almost burn my hands to pick her up. And they were both black, so she really soaked up the heat. They hurt and grieve just like we do when they lose a friend.
