Even the boys on BBC's Top Gear prefer the Stage 3 to the GT500. It handles better, is over 500 lbs lighter, lower rear gearing, and it qualifies for Ford discounts because it is still considered a GT.
The 427R handles better, I'll give it that. But there's no comparison power wise with a GT500. The 427R doesn't even make 400rwhp. The GT500 makes 430rwhp on average, and a ton more torque. The blower on the 427R is way too small for that motor. You can get about another 50-70rwhp out of the car with more mods, but that's about all that blower will support. Plus, it's still regular GT stuff. You want over 500rwhp? You'll need to build the motor, upgrade the clutch, upgrade the trans, etc, etc. With the GT500, $1500 worth of BOLT ON parts will take the car to 550rwhp and enough torque make you forget what the car weighs. Plus, the GT500 motor is already built, and it's already got a killer trans, so if you want to make 650rwhp or more, it's still just bolt on parts. There are 10 second GT500s that have never even had the valve covers off.
