You should have no trouble selling your car with the existing drivetrain at that price!!! Do you have it on Cobra Country? That is the perfect combination for someone first cobra or someone not hp hungry. Let the ones that tell you that is not enough hp, to can spec out a new one and they will have to make up their mind if they want to spend another 6K for 351. You move into a reputable 427 and you will easily be over 55K on a new one. I would never change out the drivetrain, there is no way you will recoup your time, risk and money. The right buyer will come along and snatch it up. It is January.

To answer your original question and I know you said no roush but a roush is $14.5K pluss $2.2K for trans and clutch so 16.7K at the high end and I would guess $10K at the low. I would not buy unless it was a KC, PE, Roush, so even if you could build for less you have no reputation as an engine builder even though you might be the best why would I take a chance without a proven track record.
