Wes,

I have watched a couple of documentary shows on Snipers and also listened to the interviews of the ones from Vietnam and the Gulf War. Our top Sniper in Vietnam was named Carlos. He died in 1997 I think it was from some crud he caught over there, but he has the longest verified kill on record, and it was with a 50 caliber machine gun and 1 round. Some North vietnamese General was standing on top of a mountain just over a mile away watching a fire base and Carlos took his sniper scope and mounted it on a 50 Cal. machine gun. He put 1 round in and aimed and fired. They recovered the generals body and most of his head was gone.
Also the British have one of the best sniper training courses in the world. They really have to be good to even get into it.
But they have so many new gadgets and arms in the testing or development state now that it is impossible to know what all is going on. Remember, when I was young our Snipers carried rocks and a sling.
