I have the perferated SS heat shealds from Finishline. They get warm when the car is just sitting running , they are warm and in traffic and normal driving they are warm. I have burnt my ankle and scorched my pants on the bare pipes but never on the heat sheilds. The heatsheild temps will varry with the heat from the sidepipes and outside air temperature and flow over them. They are a clamp on deal, so it's not a life changing decision. You may want to change some of the hardware I used a lot of jam nuts to lock things up. Ny-locks and heat are not going to work. Self locking nuts(where the nuts are distorted) and stainless steel screws don't work . The soft stainless steel will gall ( transfer material) and then lock up permantly.
