Depends on the type of air cleaner you have. If it's an open top element, like a K&N filter rop, then water could be a problem. You can buy a Dry Sock from K&N that works well for this. If your air cleaner has a solid top, like a standard round chrome, then it's not really an issue.

The only real issues are visibility and traction.
