I think that the real problem is that they expect non-muslims to bend to their requirements but on the other hand they will not bend one little bit to accomodate others. They want it their way in their country and their way when they are elsewhere.
I am a graduate of McGill University in Montreal where they recently had a problem with a muslim prayer area. Several years ago, the University agreed to allow muslims to pray in a room that was not being used. It was well understood that this was a temporary arrangement only. The University needed that area and advised the muslims that they would have to find another area in which to pray. Well the preverbial crap hit the fan. However, the University held it's ground and did not give in to the muslim demands. They managed to work out some sort of compromise with another area being used for the prayers.
