I took the long tour (in 1994) and enjoyed it. My grandmother's brother was
Frank Crowe who was the lead superintendent on the construction of the dam.
Sounds like they really eliminated a lot of the tour which is too bad - no
wonder you felt cheated the second time around. I have read several books
on the project and it is amazing how something that large and complex was built without computers to track the details - scheduling, materials, man
power, you name it. And the good news - it is still performing - water permitting!
