Hi Stephen,

I was thinking about that aspect as well so I used a ball nosed slot drill to cut the grooves. I used an extra long series slot drill and ran it on an angle as you will probably see in the shot of the mill. Ball nose mills run a lot better when on an angle and don't wander so much. The angled cutter tends to throw the material away from the cut rather than back into it and gives a bit better finish as well. Not sure if the half round groves will clean the pads the same as a square grove but it's got to be better than no groove.
