I know this one is lame, but am looking for all suggestions regarding an effective product for road tar and bug splatter removal from my cars (ideally without destroying the paint). Had been using DuPont product for years, but it is no longer available.

Everything available here in California seems to be long on promises but very short on actually being able to remove tar, bug splatter, etc., from the car. I understand that there was some regulation that forced manufacturers to change their formulas; based on what I am seeing, many still have a long way to go.

All tested recommendations appreciated.
