Hi rtstrack

I registered my Cobra in NY two years ago. A couple of things that may help you:

You do not need DOT light lenses for anything other than headlights. All the others need to be SAE spec. I bought Lucas 539 in red and amber from FinishLine in Florida. No problems.

I dont know what problems you are having but nobody checked my car for light lenses, or any specification issues. All these things are self certified on a form that the tech services dept in Albany will send you. You simply fill out the form listing the DOT numbers on the tyres, windshield and headlights and the SAE numbers on the turn signals, brakes etc. At the safety inspection, these things are not checked; they are simply looking for stolen components. When you go for your "safety inspection" be sure to have all your receipts as they are very rigorous in their checks. For example, if you have a used or rebuilt engine/transmission you need to know the VIN of the donor vehicle and prove you obtained it legally.

Hope this helps

John
