There are two variables in an image...file size and pixel size.

One is related to the other by image compression.

We have the software set to limit file size of attachments to the 39k value.
If the image is not compressed, it could still be very small.

See if you can create an image in Corel that is 640 x 480 and then Save a Copy as a compressed JPEG...that should get the file size lower than 40k

You can alway put your larger pictures in the Gallery and then simply link to them in your post. It is not that hard and they will show full-sized in the post.
