Another Newbe
Hi my name is Alan. I've been looking at this forum now for well over 2 years and have decided its time to register and introduce myself.
I live in the South East suburbs of Melbourne and I'm approx 4 weeks away from picking up my 08 chassis and body kit from Classic Revival.
I am currently busily sourcing parts. Have already purchased an L76 motor (I consider this should induct me to the dark side), T56 gearbox, steering rack, front knuckles and hubs, Brembo 4 spot callipers (front), 343 X 32 diameter discs, wheels and tyres (17 x 9 & 17 x 10 & 1/2) in transit from the States and a whole host of other little bits and pieces.
I have already found this site extremely helpful in my decision of which kit to buy. I looked at most kits available in Australia and decided that the Classic Revival best fitted my plans for club motor sport and Cobra Club events.
I am currently finding it very hard to source a VE rear sub assembly (which the classic revival use) from any wreckers. Have priced brand new, but this will blow the budget. So trying to find a 3.7 diff ratio that comes out of a HSV manual car, along with all the lower control arms, knuckles and hubs. No luck yet, but would appreciate any tip-offs or sightings of these.
I am also trying to find information on the T56 shifter relocation. I know Aussie Mike had posted a "How to Guide" on this mod, but when I searched the forum, a lot of the text seems to be missing in the post.
I plan on a 2 to 3 year build process and will try to keep most of the fabrication in house as I have nearly got my garage set up as I want it.
A recent extension to garage for road cars and a separate workshop area with lathe, drill press AC/DC tig welder, and big work bench. Need to purchase beer fridge for the workshop area!
I am looking forward to becoming part of this group and culture and only hope that maybe one day I might be able to help out someone as much as this forum has already helped me.
