pedal assemblies, recommendations?
Hi all, I recently purchased a Cobra replica and am not sure what the pedal assembly is in the car as I am a newbie and sort of part/component stupid at this point. But I do know that whater they are it is not to my liking and feels loose and looks like cr.p.
I would really like to have all the pedals replaced with a nice looking assembly that would not break the bank. I am wondering what some of you more experienced owners/builders might recommend.
I just want a nice looking solid feeling assembly. It need not be a super, racing, high tech, or cutting edge system, Just a nice unit that will be affordable and can be installed by a good competent mechanic, but not needing a "Cobra Specialist" to install.
I would expect to tear out the existing "whatever they are" pedals and put in a factory fresh new pedal assembly or a very slightly used one. I would prefer to buy the whole pedal rack and assembly new unless that is over $300-350 or so in which case I could look to the wrecking yard I guess.
Could someone give me a few ideas of what I should be shopping for, to put in a box, and take to the local street rod mechanic and say "here's the stuff you need, could you please remove and replace this complete pedal assembly for me".
The pedals in the car now all work fine it's just the worn/junky look and loose feel of them that gets to me. So perhaps I need not replace things like master cylinders, lines, etc. just the rack and pedals themselves is what I'm after.
I know this probably sounds pretty dumb to many of you who are capable of doing all your own work but I am not a mechanic and just want to be able to enjoy the car with my wife on nice weekends. Replacing this nasty looking, loose feeling pedal group would go a long way in helping me be able to do that.
Thanks for any pointers, Don
