I have just installed crank, rod & pistons (347) and finished off the
oil pump, pick-up and pan tonight. All went well. Now the head gaskets are the issue.
I know World recomends using SVO- type head gaskets on these blocks.
What I cannot clearly see is why you cannot use an ordinary 302 head gasket? All the water passages are covered. May need puncing out some of the water/ steam holes, but looks quite OK.
The only thing I can think of is the embossing NOT covering the lower water holes in block. Thought of using
Loctite (2030?) gasket glue.
Any opinions?
