jdogginla,

You shouldn't have a problem buying an out of state car and walking it through the SB100 process, as long as the car is legally registered in the state where you buy it. If Michigan legally registers Cobra replicas as "1965 Cobras", then you should be fine as long as you follow the SB100 process (i.e. register the car in CA as a specially constructed vehicle and not mis-represent it as a 1965 Cobra).

There's a number of SB 100 cars for sale on CC and Cobra Country right now. Have you looked at all of those?
