Pitch the Auto. Stick in a TKO 600 (0.8 fifth ratio). Put a cam in the engine that makes the idle talk music to your ears. If you can afford to, stroke it and top it off with a good set of heads, while your at it. When you get it pumping out 400 to 450 hp, it will actually become the car you dreamed about for 30 years, instead of a boring daily driver that looks like a Cobra.

It would be worth more too, but you likely will not get all that money back, if you still decide to sell it.
