The worm and sector cars had the steering gear behind the spring tower where the rack and pinion cars had the steering gear in front of the spring tower. All the conversions I've seen used a "rear steer" rack. I have some photos of CSX2057 when Fiskens in London had it, and they sorta show the rack conversion.
I've never seen somebody convert a W&S car to an original style R&P setup. Maybe it's can't be done properly? The chassis itself is very different.
