Mac VABCH Mac you want to keep everything clean. If the motor starts to have a failure, you don't want metal getting into the accusump and
oil cooler. It would be a pain to flush out these parts. The same applies with any thing like a small piece of RTV from the intake sealing, It can get through the screen of the pickup, the pump gears will crush it, and next you want something to caught it before getting into the motor. Rick L.
