Red top Optima in my street car (65 Fastback 351-W) is at least 6 years old, probably 7 now, no trickle charger or battery maintainer. When I know I will not use the car for more than a few weeks, I just dis-connect the positive battery cable. Never failed to start the car, YET!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same red top Optima in my road racer, 3 years old now, 331 stroker, 13 to 1 compression, so far, no problems and that car does "sit" for months at a time without being started.......

I like red top Optimas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
