The last time I made a car payment was in 1980. My last house payment was in 1987.
This money I wasn't paying in interest went to investments and savings.
I retired last year the day after I turned 59.

Whether it is cars,homes or credit cards it's the interest that is the killer.
Then should something happen to your income and you have payments ,with the usual low to no savings that go hand in hand with assorted payments,you're quickly in Deep Chit.
