Default Ford 8.8" rebuild information.

Looking now at rebuilding my 8.8" IRS differential, and wanting assembly information, such as whether bearing cap bolt threads oiled or not for accurate torqing?
A mechanic friend who is helping me with this mentioned I should use Red Lead compound mixed with oil to give a proper mesh reading instead of bearing blue which just marks the wear spot, where Red lead marks the un-meshed area, this may be an old fashioned way, and I have been told this product is now banned!!
