For the most part I'm staying out of the circus that has cropped up here since I don't care much for either of the choices coming up to bat. But I will try to point out something that seems to be overlooked, as Bill's lenthly post has (as well as other's) shown...
The Federal Government is waaaay out of place in meddling in state affairs.
Why do we need federal involvement in nuclear waste storage???? Seems to me Ohio needs to find a place in Ohio for their's, Utah's in Utah, ect.
Why is Africa's AIDS problem are govenment's resposibility, start a telethon for it. It's not the Government's place to force me to contribute to some other countries charity, or any for that matter.
Like Social Security they'll F**k it up, and they need to keep out of it. When the financial mess goes out of control, the government sits back while the people roll out the gallows and drag the suits out of the skyscrapers and fixes the problem. Then move on to the slums, prisons and get rid of the hoodlums.
No lets just pass more legislation that never helps the people who break their backs under the weight of the preditors and free-loaders.
Time to weed off the useless and get back to our core values, don't like it? Well, there's the door...
I drive a Chevy built by illiterate, overpaid american autoworkers that runs just fine thank you very much, but I'm appalled at the mountain of cheap chinese and japanese junk we're getting buried under. Personally I liked the big, bulky american stuff that the repair guy came and fixed every so often...
We talk of free trade, yet regulate our businesses out of existance. But that's OK, Subway is hiring.
