My symptoms were food not going all the way down sometime ... almost like a muscle spasm right at my breast bone ( and it hurt like crazy ) and then I had to wait about 30 seconds for the food to go down . He also said to not eat within 2 to 3 hours before going to bed (was impossible with my travel schedule ) and to elevate the head of my bed about 3 inches . It keeps the stomach acid from backing up , and to cut out all caffeine .
Good luck .... they are able to down some really neat things these days .... but it all starts with the correct diagnosis , and the endoscopy is the best way to start as he can check out both the stomach and the esophagus at the same time .
I had to make some major lifestyle changes , but don`t regret it at all .
