Don,
Those of us who track on a regular basis know if it happens at the track it is not covered by our insurance policies. Really no loophole or surprise to be had except for those who try to skirt the issue by having their cars towed off premise and a few miles away to stage an accident. I watched in amazement a certain NYC Porsche owner (gold car mind you) having his car towed back to Manhattan after a brush up against the now famous blue armco at Watkins Glen. Funny how a fellow racer that was there that same event just happened to be the adjuster that was sent out to survey the damage that supposedly happened on the Cross Bronx Expressway against a hit and run driver with, yup, you guessed it, a blue van.............The owner was so cocky about it he fought the denial of coverage in court, actually made it to the very first day and then dropped the case when the first witness was the adjuster with pictures he took of the car at the track right after the incident..........These days it's funny to watch guys drive their cars to the track, then cover, remove, or change license plates in an attempt to "keep themselves covered"...........
