That's for sure the liberal line, but we live in a capitalist society and there is no such thing as too much profit. Besides, more than a few of us own stock in the oil companies so a new tax would be in effect a new tax on us as shareholders. Excaliber, once again (and as always) you don't get it - corporations, including oil companies, are only legal entities - they are owned by in some cases millions of entities (people) partly through 401K investments. Why tax anyone more at this time, especially given the fact that, in this case, oil companies will plow profits back into development or pay profits out in dividends which will be taxed?
