What works best for me is to take that cup checker and trim the cup portion down until it's essentially flat - just a locating divot left in the center. Measure your desired length not forgetting lash - and order your pushrods specifying the length to "bottom of cup". Your pushrods will come in marked as "BOC" next to the length. Easy.
