I don't notice the cold that much. I was driving a couple weeks ago and the temps were below freezing.

BUT, my wife is another matter. Trying to keep her warm can be a challange. I bought her a battery powered vest, and she loves it. The advantage is that when we stop somewhere, she's still warm. On high, the battery lasts about 6-7 hours.

I installed a power outlet in the trunk. If we're going to be gone for a long day or a couple of days, we plug in the charger and keep the second battery ready.

I also bought a pair of battery powered gloves for commuting on my motorcycle. Driving in cold weather with those on is really nice.

IMO, battery technology has advanced anough to make them a better choice than hard wired for most people.
