Actually, it is pretty damned stupid. Let's review:
1) GW is convinced to resign in order to begin executing the "brilliant" scheme.
2) Cheney becomes President.
3) Cheney "nominates" (a President can't appoint) Rice as VP, which requires Senate confirmation.
4) Since the current lame-duck Senate is mostly out of session until January, and with a D-majority, the Senate refuses to confirm Rice.
5) Speaker Pelosi becomes VP until January 20, 2009, when President Obama and Vice President Biden are sworn in.
Not so brilliant after all, huh? I wish these joke writers would study the Constitution.
