Hi Wayne,
We never used that iceboat, it was huge and ungainly. Steve took it home when they bought a new house in NH.
But I did try a homemade sail iceboat once(not a fixed wing one, but one that looks sort of like a windsurfer), and I couldnt stop the darn thing nor turn very well, and I ended up about 15 feet in the woods at the edge of the pond with a pretty good bump on my head. So that was the end of iceboating for me.
Freddie's friend Henry Spencer had a really nicely made iceboat and used to get up to probably 40 MPH here on the bay if the saltwater ice had a smooth lens of fresh water ice on it from rain.
I sat in my truck and watched.
