You can buy glucosomin and condrotin ( not sure i spelled that right) for older dogs with joint and muscle problems and after a month or less you will see a big differnce in them. our 12 yr old bichon could not walk up stairs-we put him on food and treats loaded with those items and now he is fine. the vet wanted to give him cortisone shots. Many dogs that get sick, get so because of all the shots they get from the vets. Certain raw foods are the big thing now-no fillers or unwanted drugs in that.
