The lousy b-a-s-t-a-r-d-s at American Express refused to refund my money...in spite of all the evidence I presented them, including printed copies of Super 8's website data relating to their cancellation policy, a complete description of the entire transaction history, and all the details of the way I - and other guests - were treated. Their comment was..."Well, you signed the receipt." I explained that I was basically told to sign the receipt or Yogi said he wouldn't give my card back to me...tough shytsky, according to the "nice" folks at Amex...you know, the company that guarantees they will go to bat for you if something's wrong with a product or service you buy using their card...the one that claims they will provide you, their cardholder, with their personal guarantee? Yeah...those guys.
I came away with two lessons from this little soiree....
1) Never...BUT NEVER...stay at a hotel/motel owned by any named Yogi....or Kumar...or Mohammed...or Kirti...I could go on...or any hotel with camel tracks in the lobby. I go out of my way to avoid Indian and Arab owned hotels now, even if it costs me more. It's worth it to me.
2) Phuque American Express' guarantee to assist their cardholders...their policy is to make as much money for their brandname as possible while stepping on the back of their cardholders in favor of the businesses that honor (...if you can call it "honor'...) their credit card. I've stopped using Amex for anything and everything, and will not renew my card when it comes due.
Yes...it's time to move the event from the current hotels...and I will not be attending the event this year if the same hotels are involved. They're crap...pigsties...hog wallers...owned and operated by people who will try and suck every last dime out of you they can...and then smile and tell you to have a good day. Remember, most of these people were raised in worse filth than what's in their hotels...they think nothing of it. Phuque 'em...
Did you ever hear about my story about "Americas" Best Value (note the quotes) hotel manager trying to charge me $10 to use his garden hose out front of their office for ten minutes to wash my SPF...? Yeah, that was right after I picked all the little curly black hairs off the blanket on the bed in my room.
Nice folks those Indian hotel owners and operators. Let's all go back to them year after year and give them tens of thousands of dollars to treat us like shyt, while our cars and trucks get broken in to while we're asleep in their nasty-ass beds, on filthy carpets, in oh-so-surgically-clean rooms, with the furry toilet seats. Oh, yeah...I can't wait...
If I sound disillusioned and disenfranchised, it's only because I am. Prejudiced? You bet your sweet...! It's MY money and I'll spend it where I damn well want to...and I DON'T want to spend it at an Indian owned hotel anymore...ever again. Like I said, I will not be attending LCS this year if the same hotels are involved. I may go to Mid-Ohio...but then drive right on through Columbus on my way home.
