On the drive home tonight, listening to the news, it was reported that the police had detained someone and charged him with arson/murder (21 killed in that particular fire if I recall the report correctly) and then had to move the suspected arsonist to Melbourne (the city) from the rural lockup where he was being held - for his safety.
I think the last lot of big fires was in 2006, then as now the police were very circumspect in their public statements but this time the underlying sentiment (from the television footage that I've seen) is a remarkable resolve to find the root of each fire like I've never seen before.
