Here is a picture of Carroll in 1957 at Virginia International Raceway. Notice the number 98 on the side of his Maserati. 6 cars behind him is the Chevy V-8 powered CorVace. Notice the sign at the EXIT of the turn.
They must have had brass cannonballs...maybe titanium in those days.
